Tip Corner: Creating Custom Watermarks

Have you ever wanted your own watermark to appear across your images instead of the generic "Proof"? Using our recommended guidelines the process is actually quite simple. To break it down for you;

(This assumes prior knowledge of PSM and graphics software like Photoshop)

1. Create a new blank image in Photoshop or whichever graphics software you prefer to use.

2. Set the size of the image to your large thumbnail size. If you don't know what that is, 600x600 pixels should work fine.

3. Fill the background with a gray color (RGB values R:128, G:128, B:128).

4. Use the text tool to add your custom watermark (your studio name would work well here). Use a large font such as font size 72 to fill the space well.

5. Set the color of the text with another gray color (RGB values R:184, G:184, B:184).

6. If you're using Photoshop, to give your watermark a "professional"feel add a bevel or other effects through the layer properies of your text layer.

7 . Save the finished image as a JPEG(.jpg) file. Use the name"watermark.jpg".

8. Save the "watermark.jpg" file in your PSM(Pro Studio Manager) folder. On a PC; "C:\My PSM Galleries". On a Mac; "Macintosh HD/Users/<Your user name>/Library/Application Support/Pro Studio Manager 2".

9. To use your new watermark:

On a PC;

  1. Open PSM and create a new gallery.

  2. In the "Create New Gallery" screen select the blank watermark at the bottom. Then click the "Select Custom" button.

  3. Browse to the location of your new watermark usually in the "C:\My PSM Galleries" folder.

  4. With the new watermark selected click "Open"

  5. You should now see your new watermark displayed on the example image.

  6. To see your watermark on your own images, go to the "Options" menu and click "Preview with proof"

  7. In the preview window (lower left) you should now see your own watermark displayed on your images.

On a Mac;

  1. Open PSM and create a new gallery.

  2. With this new gallery selected, go to the "Inspectors" menu and choose "Gallery Proof".

  3. Click on the small arrow to the right of the example image.

  4. From there, click "Choose".

  5. Browse to the location of your new watermark in the "Macintosh HD/Users/<Your user name>/Library/Application Support/Pro Studio Manager 2" folder.

  6. With the new watermark selected click "Choose".

  7. You should now see your new watermark displayed on the example image.

  8. To see your watermark on your own images, select an image, go to the "Inspectors" menu, and choose "Image Name/Preview"

  9. Check the "With proof" checkbox. You should now see your own watermark displayed on your image.

10. That's it! Remember to choose this custom watermark with each new gallery you create. You can also use different custom watermarks inseparate galleries if you like.
