Gallery and Website Help Boost Community Awareness of the Needs of Foster Children
October 31, 2007. Santa Clara, Calif - Printroom, a leading provider of complete online storefront, printing and fulfillment services to professional photographers, is lending support to the Heart Gallery show sponsored by the Brooks Institute and the Santa Barbara County Child Welfare Services. The Heart Gallery project is aimed at increasing awareness and changing impressions in the local community of the needs of children under the care of Child Welfare Services.
The Heart Gallery, which opens November 1 and runs through November 21 at the Brooks Institute Cota Street Gallery, and its related website both consist of photos of children that have been placed successfully with foster or adoptive parents through the efforts of Child Welfare Services, as well as children still in need of homes. The upbeat and energetic photography captured by the staff and alumni of the Brooks Institute aims to replace negative notions of foster and adoptive children and families with more truthful images of the joy and beauty embodied by these children. In addition to the gallery, photos can be viewed anytime at: http://www.printroom.com/pro/sbheartgallery.
The Director of the Santa Barbara Heart Gallery and Brooks Institute faculty member Russ McConnell said, "The Heart Gallery is driven to raise community consciousness about the children in need in our community. We are very pleased to have companies like Printroom step forward and lend their best expertise and resources to make this important event possible."
Printroom provided all of the final large format gallery images that will be displayed in the Santa Barbara show. Printroom is also hosting a vibrant online gallery built using Printroom's latest Flash-based tools for quickly building professional photography websites.
Printroom Vice President of Marketing, Andrew Baum, said, "The Heart Gallery is a fantastic effort and a great cause, helping local children in need. The world-class photographic talent gathered by the Brooks Institute has lent its skill at capturing the uniqueness of the children. Everyone at Printroom is proud to be able to do our bit, helping to ensure that the gallery delivers all of the visual impact the organizers intended, so that it grabs peoples' attention and gets them to think positively about this important cause."
